Happy Memorial Day weekend! It’s the unofficial “Summer kickoff” of events going on. Welcome to our new weekly Reggae Reflection Spotlight series where we will spotlight upcoming events and new music.

Interviews
Our interview with Michah Pueschel, the lead singer of Iration is now published on Island Stage Magazine. Iration just wrapped up their Tales from Sea tour and we caught up with Michah right after their afternoon set at SunFest in West Palm Beach, FL on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015. They were one of the headliners at Cali Roots on Sunday, May 24th and will appear on numerous festivals this summer.

Summer Tour News
The announcement of the the “Catch a Fire Tour” has created a positive buzz for the summer concert season. It features an excellent combination of top Roots-Reggae artists featuring Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Morgan Stephen “Ragga” Marley, Morgan Heritage, Tarrus, Riley and special guests Jo Mersa and Black Am I! The Catch a Fire tour, targeting large outdoor venues in 17 cities across the US, kicks off on August 29th in Philly for the Annual Reggae in the Park concert at the Mann Center for Performing Arts. The next day the tour is part of the Summer Stage Concert Series in Central Park in NYC before they head to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston on September 3rd and the Maine State Pier in Portland, Maine on September 4th. The tour concludes in Santa Barbara, California on September 25, 2015.
Chronixx and ZincFence Redemption just kicked off a month long US Capture Land Tour at the Cali Roots festival on 5/23. Next weekend you can catch Chronixx at the Roots Picnic in Philly on 5/30 and he has two dates in NYC. The first at Governor’s Ball on June 6, and his own show at Irving Plaza on June 7th. Other dates on the tour include stops in New England, DC, NC , GA, and several dates in FL before the tour wraps up in Miami on June 20th.
This is the 2nd US Capture Land tour schedule for Chronixx this year. Earlier this year, Chronixx had a successful West Coast tour before heading to Jamaica for shows in St. Elizabeth, Portland, and Kingston. Stay tuned to see what’s next for Chronixx in the second half of 2015!

New Reggae Releases
The beautiful singer and songwriter Alaine has a new Album coming out. Her breakthru single in 2005 was No Ordinary Love and she followed up with her debut album Sacrifice in 2007 and her second studio album, Luv a Dub in 2009. Her latest album, Ten of Hearts releases on Tuesday, May 26th. Ten of Hearts is available for pre-order on iTunes and includes a free download called Don’t walk away featuring J Boog. Alaine will be performing on the Orocabessa Festival on Memorial Day in NYC along with Tarrus Riley, Freddie McGregor and Sean Paul. Alaine then jets off to Europe to perform on several European Festivals this summer.

Marley opens up in Baltimore (May 8 – June 14)
The world premiere of the Marley musical opened up at Center Stage in Baltimore a couple weeks ago. It’s a play based on the life and music of Bob Marley and it has been getting great reviews. On June 5th, tickets are available for Stir it Up, a special event to see the play and attend an after party with cast members.
