RasTa is the story of the personal journey of Rita and Bob Marley’s granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast, into the world of Rastafari. Her exploration takes us to countries where her grandfather‟s captivating performances delivered the Rastafarian message. Her travels not only unveil the reach and inspiration of his music and message, but also the history and evolution of the Rastafarian movement.

The documentary boasts an exciting reggae soundtrack, featuring established, as well as emerging contemporary, reggae stars – they include: Alborosie, Burning Spear, Damian Marley, Jacob Miller, Jah Cure, King Jassim, Matisyahu, Morgan Heritage, Nomadz, Ras Levi Roots, Tarrus Riley, Turbulence and Donisha Prendergast herself. This thrilling mix of travel, music and culture packs a powerful punch that will appeal to massive audiences, nationalities and tastes, both the young and young at heart from around the globe.
RasTa will have its World Premiere at TIFF (Toronto Int‟l Film Festival), September, 2011 — and will be presented at other major festivals: Berlin, Sundance, Tribecca, Pan African, and MIPDOC (Cannes). It will be released theatrically in the eight countries it was filmed: Canada, Ethiopia, Israel, India, Jamaica, South Africa, UK and USA, November 2011, with a 2nd tier rollout in Europe, Asia and The Caribbean, February 2012 – Black History Month for many and the year of Jamaica‟s 50th Anniversary. RasTa will premiere on Television in Canada‟s on CityTV, April 2012.
