Jimmy Cliff nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame 2019
Legendary Reggae artist Jimmy Cliff is nominated for the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame in the performing songwriter category. To be considered for this achievement, the candidate must be a published songwriter for at least 20 years and have a notable song catalog of hits.
Jimmy Cliff has won two Best Reggae album Grammys – Cliff Hanger in 1986 and Rebirth in 2013. He is also a 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
Twenty-four nominees in total are nominated for the prestigious 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame. Other popular performing songwriters considered for this honor, include: Maria Carey; Vince Gill; Missy Elliot; Tommy James of the Shondells; Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders; Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics; and Cat Stephens among several others.
Eligible voters will have until December 17, 2018 to select their choices of three nominees from the songwriter category and three from the performing songwriter category.
The inductees will be honored at The Annual Induction & Awards Gala on June 13, 2019, in New York City.
