The newest release from Pressure Busspipe features 14 songs. There is a blend of styles all featuring modern roots style music. The music is current in themes and the influences reflect diversity of instrumental styles.
Rebel With A Cause is smartly arranged. The first two songs are solely Pressure himself, but what is remarkable is that second song “Wake Up Stay Up” dives into a different instrumental style. To me this is an incredible choice from an arrangement standpoint. This sets the listener up for the expectation that the producers are going to present the listener with a wide range of instrumental styles and content variations.
Rebel With A Cause
The cd features top duo combinations from R City, Sizzla, Reemah, Redman, Protégé, Anthony B, Akae Beka (the most late great Midnite lead singer Vaughn Benjamin), Anthony B, Kabaka Pyramid, and lastly Jah9. I would consider this to be the most talent packed CD released in the last 5 years of modern roots reggae.
The production and quality is top work, rich in bass and details and ripe with all the traditional reggae elements, organ pulse, skankin keys, flowing horn sets and classic use of reverbs, delays and feedback effects. This cd demonstrates the talents of artists and producers to work together to produce one compelling and musically rich presentation.
Of all the songs on this cd that I admire, there is just one that I consider the most reflective of the talent of this production: “Burn Down” (feat. Reemah). This is a yet another great duo. The supporting artist plays a creative role, her voice helps to balance the song that would otherwise be a very intense pelting of the Babylon heritage of accumulation and abuse.
This CD or release by normal digital standards (digital stream) is a great production that all reggae fans should considering buying and enjoying for many moments.
