Earlier tonight #TeamTessanne fans were delighted  to learn that Jamaican born singer Tessanne Chin was one of two contestants on Adam Levine’s team to move forward with The Voice competition.

After two knockout rounds of competition in which The Voice celebrity judges consisting of Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo, and Blake Shelton had sole responsibility to choose the winner, this was the first week that the public had the ability to vote for their favorite contestant.  Supporters of Tessanne Chin have been rallying the public to vote for Tessanne and have successfully demonstrated their strength in numbers this week qualifying Tessanne  to move on to the next round of competition.

This week marked the first live week of The Voice now in its fifth season.  Twenty contestants performed  during the Live Show sessions on Monday and Tuesday night with the objective of narrowing that list from 20 to 12.   Voting commenced after each live show and the results aired earlier tonight.  The two contestants receiving the most votes on each team were chosen by the public, then it was up to each judge to make the difficult choice of which additional team member to save.

#TeamTessanne supporters had no worries as both she and James Wolpert received the most number of votes to automatically move forward.  Adam Levine then chose Will Champlin as the additional member to represent his team.   During the live show on Monday, Tessanne Chin  had the final performance of the program singing a stirring rendition of  ‘Many Rivers to Cross’ by fellow Jamaican and multi-Grammy Award winning singer Jimmy Cliff.

Rounding out the remaining top 12 contestants are:  Austin Jenckes, Cole Vosbury and Ray Boudreaux from #TeamBlake;  Jonny Gray, Caroline Pennell, and Kat Robichaud from #TeamCeelo;  and Matthew Schuler, Jacquie Lee, and Josh Logan from #tTeamXtina.

Make sure to tune into the next session of The Voice airing at 8:00PM ET on Monday, November 11th.
