Reggae Reflection News

It’s ‘full steam ahead’ in August with a exceptional variety of Reggae festivals and shows going on across the globe.   Our spotlight includes two international festivals coming up this weekend – Rototom in Spain and the Montreal International Reggae Festival in Canada.  Island Stage has Rototom covered and Reggae Reflection will be covering Montreal!

New to the Billboard Reggae chart this week,  Joss Stone’s latest cd debuts at #1, while Jah Cure who held that spot for the last three weeks moves down a few notches to #4.

In case you missed it, you can watch Stephen Marley’s performance on the Jimmy Kimmel show on July 31st!   We are looking forward to the Catch a Fire Tour which kicks off on August 29th in Philly.  Look out for our opportunity below to win free tix to the Portland, Maine show on September 4th.  What a great start to Labor Day weekend!

And last but not least, a few of our favorite videos released this summer so far by Jah Cure, Julian Marley, Jesse Royal, Christopher Martin, Sean Paul, and Gyptian.

The Story of Rototom

“The Rototom association was born in 1991 out of a meeting between four people. Since then the entity has managed two nightclubs, hundreds of concerts, squatted an abandoned factory to create a cultural centre, organized marches for peace, and created the biggest reggae festival in the world, the Rototom Sunsplash that celebrated its twentieth edition in 2013.” –  RototomSunsplash.com

The Billboard Reggae Chart has a new #1 Album

Joss Stone’s seventh album, Water for your Soul, debuted at the number one spot on the Reggae Billboard Chart, which had been nicely occupied by Jah Cure for the last three weeks for his well received latest release, The Cure.  While the critics have given Joss Stone mixed reviews for her efforts on her Reggae-influenced release,  her fans have spoken – putting Joss in the number one spot, for now.

The following albums round out the rest of the top 5 Reggae Billboard Chart this week :
#2  Reggae Gold 2015
#3  Soca Gold 2015
#4  The Cure – Jah Cure
#5   Count Me In – Rebelution

Live Sessions!

Stephen Marley took some time out of his busy tour schedule on the West Coast to stop by the Jimmy Kimmel  show in Los Angeles on July 31, 2015.  This year marks the 30th anniversary of Bob Marley’s album, “Legend”, and coincides with the 70th anniversary of Bob Marley’s birthday.  To celebrate the significant milestones,  Stephen and his band had the audience Jammin to the Bob Marley classic of the same name, proving that this Jam will forever last.

“We’re  jammin’ – To think that jammin’ was a thing of the past; We’re jammin’ , and I hope this jam is going to last” – Bob Marley

Your chance to win tix to see  Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Tarrus Riley, and Morgan Heritage on the Catch a Fire Tour, Friday, 9/4 in Portland, Maine!   Click below for more info.
