If there was one word to describe “The Studio One Vinyl Authentic Celebration”, it would be, enchanting. The ambiance in the room and the musical selections chosen by both artists and disc jockeys for the night were of extreme quality straight from the vaults of  Reggae’s Motown, “Studio One“.  Three of Studio Ones new generation artists alongside a veteran. The audience seemed to love every moment.

Opening the show was female reggae artist K Vibes, “The Brick Rose” who sang her hit song “Frenemies” and a few pre-released songs from the vault.  Her selections of rythyms went deep into the Studio One treasure chest with rythyms like “Johnny Man” and  “Babyface” from the Sound Dimension Downbeat The Ruler,  Killer Instrumentals Best of Studio One Volume 3.
K-Vibes complemented the riddims with her deep rich tones.

Dona V  gave a lovely perfomance showing his potent lyrical ability. Showing that there are still great writers in the Reggae Industry today.  He performed several tracks from his album “Cry for Tomorrow“.

JD Smoothe captured the ladies with his wonderful vocal ability singing such songs like “ Letter to Myself “ from his album JD Smoothe. He is a rare talent in today’s reggae industry.

Veteran artist Cherry Rock aka Anthony Ellis known for hits like “The Ruler” also gave an excellent performance and did a special duet with Jose Angel in Spanish.

But what would the night be without the selectors who played hit after hit all night long from the label that remains #1 in Reggae.  Fidel Luna started it off nice and steady then came back at the end of the night with the Senior DJs to show he is no novice and knows his history of reggae music well.  Vaughn All Star and Carter Van Pelt of WKCR 89.9 Eastern Standard Time Radio gave it their all, spinning classic tunes with Nick Solid Rock representing the West Coast in style and fashion with his knowledge of Studio One. DJ Misbehaviour held it down as the only female selector for the night. She really packed a punch giving the masssive just what they wanted and can hang tight with the fellas all the way.  Downbeat aka “ Tony Screw” had the crowd wound up bringing the night to its climactic end with a few more selections from each selector .  It all ended about 4:15 am when the last song had to be played leaving the crowd wanting more and asking for Part two. The night was a success.

Brick Rose Entertainment and Downbeat Productions give many thanks  to the founders of Studio One, Clement and Norma Dodd, survived by their children and Daughter Carrol Dodd, President & CEO of Studio One.
